Karl-Heinz Gruber looks back on successful years at IFA Technology

What has motivated you over the years?
“For me, the company was my second home. Alongside my family, it was my colleagues, the customers, and the projects that shaped my day-to-day work. I was also particularly motivated by helping to shape the company’s development—whether through the growth of our team or through successful business deals.”

Projects That Stick in the Memory

Which project or milestone are you particularly proud of?
“Definitely a very challenging large-scale project. Following a major fire, a facility had to be up and running within just four months of receiving the order. That was an enormous challenge.
But I’m also proud of the long-term development of our customer relationships.”

What moment still brings a smile to your face today?
“It’s impossible to limit that to a single moment. It’s especially nice when customers personally thank us after a successfully completed project—for the functioning system, for the work of our colleagues, and for the good collaboration. That’s exactly what makes all the effort worthwhile.”

What Makes a Good Customer Relationship

You’ve worked with many customers over the decades. What defines a good customer relationship for you?
“Technical expertise, personal contact, and a sincere sense of partnership.”

How can you tell when a customer relationship has turned into a true partnership?
“When you can talk to each other without any issues. When the focus is on the matter at hand first, not on money. And when both sides take each other’s concerns seriously.”

Developing Technical Solutions Together

What task have you always enjoyed the most in your day-to-day work?
“Developing and discussing technical solutions together with the customer. That’s exactly what I’ve always enjoyed the most.”

With Mixed Feelings

How does the transition to retirement feel?
“With mixed feelings. I’m looking forward to having more time for travel, the woods, and my workshop. At the same time, I’m leaving behind many people with whom I’ve worked closely for years.”

Continuity in Management

With Karl-Heinz Gruber’s retirement, his former co-CEO, Stefan Neumann, will assume sole responsibility going forward.

Why can customers continue to trust IFA Technology?
“He knows what matters. He’s technically very skilled and always finds the right words with customers in any situation.”
